First, this evening I would like to pay a small tribute to
a gentleman who had very much to do with the course of my life over
the past 35 years or so. J.M. Hurst, the modern father of cycle
analysis in the stock market passed away last week in Roseville,
California. In just a few weeks, he would have been 81 years old.
His textbook classic, The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing
was responsible for my entry into the field of stock market analysis
and, more specifically, cycle analysis. He has been somewhat of
a mystery over the past few decades and few were aware of his whereabouts
or whether he was still alive or not. Edward Dobson, the proprietor
of Traders Press recently revived some Hurst material which I was
honored to write the introduction for and Edward spoke to Hurst
several times over the past few years. He is the one who informed
me today of Hursts' passing. I owe much of any success I have had
in this business to the grand old gentleman of cycles. May his memory
be eternal.

"Cyclic Analysis", a formerly unpublished private work
